2016 May 21, Courtyard Hotel, Halifax

The 2016 CSSE/SCIS meetings and Awards dinner were held May 21, at the Courtyard Hotel in Halifax Nova Scotia. The organizing committee of Ron Gilkie, Genanne Beck, Nelson Ferguson and Mary Barker did an excellent job of organizing the dinner and the proceeding Board and Annual General meetings. The choice of the hotel was also excellent being close to the Halifax waterfront and amenities. One of the design engineers for the new Halifax public Library, David Bulger P. Eng. of SNC spoke at the Board luncheon on the challenges in designing the structure for the building. In the afternoon Mary Barker took CSSE guests on a tour of the facility.

Prior to the awards dinner members and guests were entertained during a cocktail hour by the Abilene Duo, consisting of Past President Nelson Ferguson and Ian Holmes.

For the dinner the head table guests Ron Gilkie Master of Ceremonies, Colin Smith Past President, Ron Britton President and Jon Jennekens, Chairman of the Honours and Awards committee were piped into the room by Suzan Bezanson. A special guest at the dinner was honorary member Debbie Innes the publisher of the CSSE newsletter.

After an excellent dinner President Britton presented Fellowship awards those present at the dinner. Fellowships were awarded to L. Conrad LeLièvre, Daniel MacDonald, Malcolm Reeves, Leslie Russell and Leonard White.

President Britton thanked the dinner sponsors: CBCL Limited Consulting Engineers, Engineers Nova Scotia, and Dalhousie University, Faculty of Engineering and the hotel staff.
