William Bailey

Bill Bailey graduated from the Nova Scotia Technical College in 1978 with a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering and subsequently obtained a M.Sc. in Hygiene from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983 and a Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Health from Cape Breton University in 2004. Bill has been active over the years in the promotion of the engineering profession and promotion of engineering education. His contributions to the education and advancement of young engineers have been exemplified during his 23 years as an engineering professor at Cape Breton University. His teachings molded the skills of many students in the fields of environmental engineering, municipal services design, water and sewage treatment, public health and marine environmental protection.

Bill has steadfastly protected the public interest in his roles as a regulatory environmental health engineer with Nova Scotia Environment and as a regulatory public health engineer with the Nova Scotia Department of Health. He has been involved in Engineers’ Nova Scotia as a councillor, a zone representative and as a Master Committee member in Cape Breton, NS from 1978 to the present.

Most recently, Bill has come out of retirement to manage the Wellness Strategy for Cape Breton University to develop the strategy and implement it across all aspects of the Cape Breton University and it’s operations. In addition to Bill’s exemplary career and dedication to the profession, Bill is always willing to help with community causes and projects.
