Stephanie Willerth, PhD, PEng, RSC Scholar
Following a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University of St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Willerth has progressed rapidly through the academic ranks of the Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) Faculty to full professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria.
Dr. Willerth established the first accredited undergraduate Biomedical Engineering program in Western Canada.
Stephanie created Axolotol Biosciences to commercialize her research.
Dr. Willerth is known for her research-inspired teaching, advocacy of equity, diversity and inclusion, community outreach, and leadership as a proponent of STEM for young women.
Stephanie is a recipient of several prestigious awards, Her commitment to engineering students’ success was recognized with Engineering and Geoscience BC’s 2021 President’s Teaching Excellence Award.
