The CSSE advocates in the Canadian national interest by using its technical expertise to suggest policy to federal and provincial governments.
For example, CSSE Director Colin Smith joined a delegation to Ottawa as an Executive Committee Member of The Pacific Northwest Economic Region (www.pnwer.org) (representing the Professional Engineers of Western Canada). In addition to advocating on bi-national economic and energy issues to key cabinet ministers and senior policy advisors, he referenced CSSE’s “Energy Compass” paper to the Deputy and Assistant Deputy Ministers of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
More recently several members of the Ottawa and Montreal Branches have initiated Position papers on subjects that they have many years of experience in and believe should be brought to the attention of the public. As these papers are drafted they will be placed on this web site for comments and suggestions. Using the “Draft Position Papers” Button can access them.
Examples of previous advocacy efforts can be accessed using the “Position Papers” Button.
The Advocacy Committee remains receptive to receiving suggestions for the next significant CSSE advocacy endeavour.
